Alby to the Rescue!

Alby spent years building his ketch, the Gretta Marie. However, in typical Alby style it burnt up and sank to the ocean floor while laying at anchor in a sheltered lagoon on Maer Island in the Torres Strait (between Cape York and New Guinea). And it wouldn't be a proper Alby incident if someone didn't get injured in the process. His mate Viktor complied nicely.

To get over the loss Alby travelled with his cameraman up to New Guinea. He stayed with some natives on the Bensbach River for a month, and while he was there, participated in their hunting expeditions. They hunted with bows and arrows, spears and nets - for kangaroos, deer, wild pigs, birds, fish, barramundi, and crocodiles.

While out hunting for pigs, Alby's native friends, Bok and Senaki, pointed out a little fawn lying in the grass. It became startled and ran straight into the crocodile-infested river. Without hesitation or thought, Alby dived in after it, and swam until he rescued the terrified animal. The natives thought he was a right wally, and in retrospect Alby agreed.

I'm leaving, on a jet plane.
